Weber named to All-Super Region Second TeamDecember 1, 2015
NEWBERRY, S.C. – Brevard punter Kevin Weber has been named to the Division II Conference Commissioner’s Association All-Super Region Two Second Team after a stellar freshman season in royal blue and white.
Weber was the team’s most steady special teams performer and led Brevard to a fifth-place national ranking in net punting at 37.8 yards per punt. The Summerville, South Carolina native led the SAC and ranked 10th in Division II with an average of 42.4 yards per punt and placed 19 punts inside the opponents’ 20-yard line with just three touchbacks. He had 16 punts of at least 50 yards on the season, while his 71-yard punt vs. Lenoir-Rhyne on Nov. 7 was the longest in the SAC in 2015 by five yards and has been eclipsed by just three National Football League punters this season.
Weber’s punting average was tops among Division II freshmen by nearly a full yard, ranked fourth among freshmen at all levels of NCAA football, and is currently higher than four NFL punters through the 12th week of the professional season. He also kicked off 17 times for a 60.9-yard average with three touchbacks in 2015.
The teams are voted on by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) representing Super Region Two. Schools from the South Atlantic Conference, Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, and Gulf South Conference comprise the super region, which also includes a trio of football independents. Weber was one of 15 SAC student-athletes among the 50 players honored.
