Nemeth named preseason second team All-SAC; Brevard picked eighth in poll

ROCK HILL, S.C. – Sophomore attack Caitlyn Nemeth has been named to the preseason second team All-SAC by the conference coaches on Wednesday.

“I’m proud of Nemeth,” head coach Kristin Rosato said. “To come in as a freshman and put up the numbers she did was impressive. Her hard work and dedication are infectious, she makes her teammates better. I’m looking forward to seeing what she will do this year.”

The Old Bridge, N.J. product rewrote Brevard’s record book setting the single season record for every offensive category. Her 51 goals ranked fourth in the conference and got her honorable mention All-SAC last season.

Brevard made positive strides in its second year, winning its first contest and first SAC victory in program history.

The league also released the preseason poll today, with the Tornados picked to finish eighth.

Queens was picked to win the league, receiving eight first place votes and 72 points overall. Lenoir-Rhyne was tabbed second with one first place vote and 64 points, followed by Tusculum with 53 points. Brevard received 22 points.

The women’s lacrosse team opens up the season on the road at North Greenville on Feb. 19 with a start time of 6:00 p.m. Fans can see them play at home on Mar. 5 when they take on Tusculum in the conference opener at 3:00 p.m.
