Tornados 11th after first day of Spring Kickoff IntercollegiateFebruary 15, 2016
ORANGE PARK, Fla. – Brevard began the spring portion of its schedule by playing 36 holes at the Spring Kickoff Intercollegiate on Monday, shooting 598 through the first two rounds of play to sit 11th of 17 teams on the leaderboard.
The Tornados were 30 over par for the afternoon after shooting identical rounds of 299 at the par-71 Fleming Island Golf Club south of Jacksonville. Brevard sits 26 strokes back of Armstrong State for the tournament lead and is third among the five South Atlantic Conference teams in attendance.
Paul Calac finished the day with the highest score for the Tornados, rebounding from a three-over 74 through the first 18 holes to finish his second round a stroke under par. He notched consecutive birdies on his 11th and 12th holes of the second round, two of five birdies on the day overall, to place him in a tie for 16th at two strokes over par.
Oskar Lundgren also had a solid day for the Tornados, finishing 36 holes at six strokes over par. Trym Falch and Luis Vega rounded out the scorers for the Tornados at 11 and 14 over par, with Sebastian Strehl and Craig Stephen completing the Brevard contingent.
North Greenville’s Christian Constance has a four-stroke lead on the field after shooting 10-under through two rounds, including an astonishing seven-under in the first round. David Lui from Palm Beach Atlantic and Jake O’Bryan are four and five strokes back, respectively. Carson-Newman’s Dalton Reese sits in fourth place at four under par and is the top SAC golfer on the individual leaderboard.
