Lenox earns Honorable Mention All-Conference honors

ROCK HILL, S.C. – The South Atlantic Conference announced its all-conference teams Thursday morning, with Madison Lenox from Brevard College’s women’s basketball team earning honorable mention All-SAC honors. The conference teams are voted on by the conference coaches.

Lenox, a junior from Raleigh, N.C. had a career season breaking a plethora of NCAA-Era records during the 2015-16 campaign. She set the expectations high from the season opener where she scored 36 points, the most by a Tornado since joining the NCAA in 2008, off 13 made field goals which is also a NCAA-Era record. Midway through the season, Lenox became just the second BC player to score 1,000 career points in the NCAA-Era and ended the year as the royal blue and white’s NCAA-Era leader in points with 1,165.

The junior finished a contest as the Torndos’ leader in blocks 15 times, scoring 14, steals 12, rebounding eight, and assists seven. On eight different occasions this season Lenox eclipsed 20 points, with a string of four-straight from Jan. 25 to Feb. 1. She posted one double-double this year with 20 points and 14 rebounds against Queens.

Lenox finished the season ranked third in scoring average (15.8 ppg), fifth in steals per game (1.7) and seventh in blocks per game (1.1). She was one of three players in the SAC to average at least and a steal and block per game. Her 411 points, 28 steals and 146 rebounds this season are all career-bests for Lenox. Her final stats this season rank in the top five of Brevard’s NCAA-Era with 411 points (3rd), 372 field goals made (3rd), 15.8 points per game (4th), 28 blocked shots and 112 defensive rebounds (5th).

The honor marks the fourth-straight season that the Tornados have received postseason recognition as Lenox’s second, as she made the all-freshman team in the 2013-14 season.
