Nemeth earns SAC Offensive Player of the Week honorsMarch 7, 2016
ROCK HILL, S.C. – The South Atlantic Conference announced its weekly awards on Monday morning, with Caitlyn Nemeth being named the Astroturf South Atlantic Conference Women’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week.
Nemeth, a sophomore from Old Bridge, New Jersey, paced the offense with eight goals, 10 ground balls and seven draw controls as the Tornados went 1-1 on the week. Against Tusculum, the conference leaders in draw controls per game, Nemeth was able to win six while also posting four goals and five ground balls.
Nemeth ranks sixth in the SAC with 14 draw controls and tied for sixth in goals with 13, despite playing in the fewest games of anyone in the top 10. Her 4.33 goals per game is the highest average in the conference while her six draw controls is the most by a player in league action.
The player of the week nod is her first of the season, and second of her career. Last season, Nemeth became the first women’s lacrosse player to earn a weekly accolade and continues her record-setting trend as the first player to win multiple.
Brevard is off to its best start in program history with a 2-2 overall record.
The Tornados are back in action on Saturday, Mar. 12 when they travel to Coker for a SAC tilt at 2:00 p.m. Brevard will be back at home on the following day, Mar. 13, when they host Alderson Broaddus at 12:00 p.m.
