HARROGATE, Tenn. – Brevard College’s women’s tennis team took on Lincoln Memorial University on Saturday morning, losing to the host Lady Railsplitters 9-0. With the result, Brevard drops to 2-9 overall and 0-5 in South Atlantic Conference play.
Brevard’s top doubles unit put up the best result a strong Lincoln Memorial University (10-4, 5-3) lineup, as Anita Maryskova and Nirvanna Silva fell 8-1 to Alena Vasilyeva and Priscilla Bulandres. Rachael Stanford and Sam Miranda, paired up at the second position, fell 8-0 to Javiel Gonzalez and Rosa Smith while Kristen Rathbun and Katie Hatter fell by an identical score at the third flight against Marta Pinol and Roksolana Prodyvus.
In singles play, Silva got the nod to play at BC’s top flight, losing 6-0, 6-0 to her LMU counterpart. Maryskova was placed on court two, seeing a similar result against Pinol of the Lady Railsplitters. Mirand, Stanford and Hatter all saw similar results on courts three through five while Claire Dysart was able to snag one game in her 6-0, 6-1 contest at the sixth position.
The Tornados will play their second-consecutive match in Tenn., as the royal blue and white take on Carson-Newman on Tuesday, Mar. 15 with first serve slated for 1:00 p.m.
