Nemeth claims second-consecutive SAC Offensive Player of the Week honorsMarch 14, 2016
BREVARD, N.C. – The South Atlantic Conference office announced its weekly awards on Monday morning, with Caitlyn Nemeth being named the Astroturf South Atlantic Conference Women’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week for the second-consecutive week.
Nemeth, a sophomore from Old Bridge, New Jersey, was instrumental in the Tornados’ two victories this weekend scoring the game-winning goal in both contests. Against Coker, Nemeth scored five goals, with her last being the 12th score for the royal blue and white, while also posting a career-best four caused turnovers. The following day, Nemeth scored a season-high eight goals, including the final three which propelled the Tornados from down one to ahead by two, with an assist for nine points.
Nemeth ranks atop the SAC leaderboard in goals with 26, goals in league game with nine, free position goals with six, shots on goal with 44 and shots on goal in conference play with 14. Her 5.20 goals per game average ranks fifth in Division II.
The consecutive player of the week nods is the first time in the program’s history that a player has achieved back-to-back honors. Nemeth now has three player of the week recognitions, the most in program history.
Brevard is currently riding its first three-game winning streak in program history, resulting in the team setting the record for most wins in a season. The Tornados are 4-2 on the season, setting the record for most games over .500.
The Tornados coninue their four-game homestand on Saturday, Mar. 19, when they host Queens at 4:00 p.m.
