Dysart wins first conference match in Tornados loss to Mars HillMarch 23, 2016
BREVARD, N.C. – Brevard College’s women’s tennis team hosted Mars Hill University on Wednesday afternoon on senior day, falling to the visiting Lions 8-1. With the result, the Tornados are now 2-13 overall and 0-8 in South Atlantic Conference play.
Nirvanna Silva and Anita Maryskova paired up at the top doubles slot for Brevard, falling to their Mars Hill (4-9, 1-5 SAC) counterparts 8-3. Rachael Stanford and Sam Miranda, teaming up at the second position, fell 8-1 against Jade Henke and Hannah Hill while Kristen Rathbun and Katie Hatter lost by an identical score at the third slot.
In singles action, Miranda was the first contest to end with a 6-1, 6-0 result on court three. Kattie Hatter was able to pick up two victories in her opening set and one early on in the second, but lost the match 6-2, 6-1.
Playing at the sixth position, Claire Dysart bested her MHU counterpart 6-1, 6-1 to claim her first career SAC conference victory. Nirvanna Silva lost 6-1, 6-1 at the top slot before Maryskova fell in a three-set thriller 6-1, 1-6, 10-4 to end the afternoon.
Brevard is back in action on Saturday, Mar. 26, when they host Southern Wesleyan at 1:00 p.m.
