Maryskova claims victory in Tornados' match against Southern WesleyanMarch 26, 2016
BREVARD, N.C. – Brevard College’s women’s tennis team took on Southern Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon, falling to the visiting Warriors 8-1. With the result, the Tornados drop to 2-14 on the season.
Junior Anita Maryskova earned the Tornados lone point of the match at the second position in singles, withstanding a comeback attempt from Southern Wesleyan’s (6-8) Chyna Jones 6-4 before cruising to a 6-0 set two win. Kristen Rathbun gave her SWU counterpart a pair of contested sets in a 6-2, 6-2 loss at the sixth slot while Nirvanna Silva recovered from a 6-0 defeat in set one at the top flight in a 6-2 set two result. Sam Miranda, Katie Hatter and Claire Dysart rounded out the lineup on courts three through five, dropping their matches 6-0, 6-0.
In doubles play, Brevard got its best match at the top slot as Maryskova and Silva put up an 8-3 outing. Hater and Miranda paired up at court two in an 8-1 setback while Rathbun and Dysart took the court at the third position in an 8-2 result.
Brevard is back in action on Sunday, April 3 when they take on Tusculum on the road at 1:00 p.m.
