Best in show; Turner sees gold at Terrier RelaysApril 3, 2016
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Brevard College’s track and field teams competed in the Wofford Terrier Relays on Saturday, April 2, with positive results coming from the Tornados.
The day began with the men’s 3000 meter steeplechase, an event won by the Tornados’ Brent Turner. The junior won the race with a 10:02.25 time, a full second ahead of the field to claim the first top finish by a Tornado this season.
Not to be outdone, Hassan Kiprono ran the 5000 meter run in 15:53.29 to finish fourth in a field filled with South Atlantic Conference competition. Hannah Cook ran in the women’s 5000 meter, crossing the finish line at 20:27.70.
Brevard yet again placed eight runners in the 100 meter dash, with Jacques Ash finishing first among the Tornados with an 11.33 run. Marlowe Macklin, Jackson Vause, Josh Grinstead, Travion Moncrieff, Quintrell Mathis, Arvin Berry and Seth McIntosh all represented the royal blue and white in the run. Vause also competed in the javelin throw, finishing in the top half with a 37.10 meter throw.
Henry Pryor missed a top 10 finish in the shot put by .39 meters, as his 13.64 attempt placed him 13th.
Brevard is back in back on Friday, April 8, when they compete in the JCSU in Charlotte, N.C.
