Brevard falls to TusculumApril 3, 2016
GREENEVILL, Tenn. – Brevard College’s men’s tennis team took on Tusculum College on Sunday afternoon, falling to the host Pioneers 9-0. With the loss, Brevard drops to 1-17 overall and 0-8 in South Atlantic Conference play.
In doubles action, David Taggart and Tom Mittring paired up at the top position, falling 8-2 to Tim Stierle and Jonas Winkelmann of Tusculum (14-1, 5-1 SAC) 8-2. Tim Hengst and Christoph Plasa played at the second flight, starting strong against their TC counterparts before a run by Tashique Kader and Leon Seiz propelled them to an 8-3 win. Tusculum earned a point on court three via a forfeit.
Following another forfeited point by Brevard, coming at the sixth singles court, Tusculum clinched the victory with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Dan Taylor at the fifth position. Hengst was the next match to finish, with a 6-0, 6-1 loss to Winkelmann. Taggart and Plasa, playing at the first and fourth positions, both had identical scores in 6-2, 6-1 losses while Mittring swapped his results at the second spot.
Brevard prepares for its final road game, at Lenoir-Rhyne on Saturday, April 9 at 1:00 p.m.
