GREENEVILL, Tenn. – Brevard College’s women’s tennis team took on No. 44 Tusculum College on Sunday afternoon, falling to the host Pioneers 9-0. With the loss, Brevard drops to 2-15 overall and 0-8 in South Atlantic Conference play.
In doubles action, Anita Maryskova and Nirvanna Silva paired up at Brevard’s top slot, falling to Erin Mills and Kaelee Heffner of Tusculum (13-3, 5-1 SAC) 8-0. Rachael Stanford and Kristen Rathbun, playing at the second position for the first time, lost to their Tusculum counterparts 8-0. The hosts earned another point at the third spot via a forfeit.
Tusculum earned another forfeited point in singles play on court six to bring the hosts within one point of the win. Maryskova, Stanford and Claire Dysart, playing on courts one, three and four, all lost 6-0, 6-0 to their competitors. Silva, playing at the second position, managed to take a couple of games from her opposition in a 6-2, 6-1 result. Rathbun played in an eight game pro set, falling 8-0 at the fifth position.
Brevard prepares for its final road game, at Lenoir-Rhyne on Saturday, April 9 at 1:00 p.m.
