Tornados sweep SAC Player of the Week honors

ROCK HILL, S.C. – The South Atlantic Conference announced its weekly women’s lacrosse awards on Monday afternoon, with Brevard College’s Caitlyn Nemeth and Amber Breedy taking home the awards.

Nemeth, a sophomore from Old Bridge, New Jersey, posted 19 goals with two assists in three conference games this past week to claim her third AstroTurf Offensive Player of the Week nod. In the Tornados’ two victories this past week Nemeth scored the 11th team goal in both, which ended up being the deciding score. At Lincoln Memorial on Sunday, the sophomore recorded her 100th career goal.

Breedy, a freshman from Webster, New York, led the team with five caused turnovers over the week to claim the programs’ first Defensive Player of the Week accolade. Against Lenoir-Rhyne, Breedy posted four caused turnovers. The freshman ranks second in the SAC with 25 caused turnovers, which already ranks atop the program record book for most in a season.

Brevard is back in action on Wednesday, April 6 when they host UVa.-Wise at 4:00 p.m. Prior to the game starting, the Tornados will honor their senior class.
