Brevard concludes road schedule with match at Lenoir-RhyneApril 9, 2016
HICKORY, N.C. – Brevard College’s men’s tennis team took on Lenoir-Rhyne in their final road contest of the season, losing to the host Bears 9-0. With the loss, Brevard drops to 1-18 overall and 0-10 in South Atlantic Conference play.
At the top two singles’ positions, David Taggart and Tom Mittring were both able to force their Lenoir-Rhyne counterparts into a third set. Taggart lost his first set 6-2 at the top flight, recovering with a 6-3 triumph before dropping the final frame 6-2. Mittring, playing at the second position, won his first set 6-3 but lost the following two 6-2 and 6-3.
Tim Hengst, playing on the third court, lost 6-3, 6-3 while Christoph Plasa fell 6-3, 6-1 at the fourth spot. Dan Taylor concluded singles action on court five, dropping an eight game pro-style set 8-1.
In doubles, Plasa and Hengst tried to make a late run against their Bears’ competition at the second flight, but fell 8-3. Taggart and Mittring paired up at the top slot, losing 8-1.
Brevard wraps up the 2016 campaign on Sunday, April 10, when they host Coker at 2:00 p.m.
