Tornados post pair of top 10 finishes at Johnson C. Smith InvitationalApril 9, 2016
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Brevard College’s track and field teams competed in the Johnson C. Smith University Invitational over the weekend, posting two top 10 finishes.
Hassan Kiprono had the best BC outing of the day in track with a runner-up run in the 1500 meter crossing the finish line at 4:13.80. The sophomore began his day with the 800 meter run, finishing five seconds out of the top 20.
On the field side, Henry Pryor represented the royal blue and white well with a pair of top 20 finishes. In the men’s shot put, Pryor placed seventh with a 13.43 meter attempt followed by a 29.29 meter throw in the discus throw for 19th place.
In the men’s 4x100 meter relay, Josh Grinstead, Travion Moncrieff, Jackson Vause and Macklin Marlowe placed sixth overall with a 44.91 team time. In the individual 100 meter dash, Marlowe ran the fastest BC time in a field of seven Tornados’ runner with an 11.13 finish, placing 17th overall. Jacques Ash and Vause finished in the same second as Marlowe for 22nd and 32nd place. On the women’s side, Tiela Smith ran in the 100 meter dash with a 15.45 finish.
With the regular season completed, the Tornados’ will next compete in the South Atlantic Conference Championship, hosted by Lenoir-Rhyne. The conference meet begins on Friday, April 15 and concludes on Saturday, April 16.
