Strehl moves into top 10 after strong second day at SAC ChampionshipApril 18, 2016
ETOWAH, N.C. – Brevard College’s men’s golf team saw improvements on the second day at the 2-16 South Atlantic Conference Men’s Golf Championship, posting a 301 as a team to remain in the hunt for a top finish.
Sebastian Strehl led Brevard with the first under-par score from a Tornado at the championship this season with a 71 score on the second day. The junior posted par or lower on the final 15 holes, including three birdies, to finish with the lowest BC score. His 148 through 36 holes is tied for 10th overall.
Luis Vega and Oskar Lundgren are tied for 25th after two days of play with scores of 151. Vega posted three-consecutive birdies on holes 13-15 to finish the back nine at par and four over par on the day with a 76 score. Lundgren also posted three birdies during the second round of play to finish with a 77 score.
Craig Stephen and Paul Calac rounded out the team with scores of 77 and 78 to finish 36 holes at 155 and 156. Stephen ended the front nine with a birdie on the ninth hole, and carried the momentum into the back nine with a birdie on hole 10. Calac posted the highest score on the team, but posted a team-best four birdies on the day.
Lenoir-Rhyne and Carson-Newman sit at the top of the leaderboard with team scores of plus 15, followed by Lincoln Memorial at plus 17. Jon Noble of Queens leads the field with the only under-par individual score at one-under, followed by Will Bundy of Coker at par and Fredrik Fossum of Newberry at plus one.
