BREVARD, N.C. – Head women’s soccer coach Juan Mascaro has announced a 17-match schedule for the 2016 season that includes a pair of competitions against 2015 NCAA Tournament participants.
The slate includes matches against all 11 South Atlantic Conference opponents, including last season’s Nos. 1 and 4 seeds from the Southeast Region in Carson-Newman and Wingate, respectively. Both the Eagles and Bulldogs travel to Transylvania County this season. The Tornados will play six home matches against SAC opponents, while four of Brevard’s six nonconference matchups will occur on the road.
Following three exhibitions, the regular season will begin on Thursday, Sept. 1 in Bristol, Tennessee, as the Tornados travel to face the King Tornado. Brevard’s home opener takes place on Tuesday, Sept. 6 against Oglethorpe, the first of three NCAA Division III opponents the Tornados will face on the season.
The conference slate begins with a trip to face Lincoln Memorial on Wednesday, Sept. 14 in the team’s fourth match of the season. The Tornados then play three of their next four matches at home before embarking on a five-match stretch with just one home date.
Senior Day will occur on Saturday, Oct. 22 as the Tornados host Carson-Newman. The team then travels to Emory and Queens for its final two matches of the season.
