Lenox named to NCCSIA all-state second teamJune 29, 2016
MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – For the second time this offseason, a Brevard student-athlete has been selected to the North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association’s All-State Second Team in the College Division.
Madison Lenox, who completed her junior season by earning honorable mention all-South Atlantic Conference honors, ranked third in the league by averaging 15.8 points per game. She landed in the top 20 in conference statistical rankings in 12 categories, including making 154 shots from the field to rank fifth in the league.
In addition to her third-place scoring mark, Lenox ranked fifth in the SAC in steals per game (1.7) and seventh in blocks per game (1.1). She was one of three players in the SAC to average at least and a steal and block per game. Her 411 points, 28 steals and 146 rebounds this season are all career-bests for Lenox. Her final stats this season rank in the top five of Brevard’s NCAA era with 411 points (3rd), 372 field goals made (3rd), 15.8 points per game (4th), 28 blocked shots and 112 defensive rebounds (5th).
The Raleigh native was a standout in nearly every phase of the game, racking up multiple outings as the team’s leader in blocks (15), scoring (14), steals (12), rebounding (8), and assists (7). She set several NCAA-era school records this season, most notably with 1,165 career points and a single-game record 36 points in the season opener at Claflin.
This marks Lenox’s first selection to an NCCSIA all-state squad. No school had multiple players honored on the teams, which represented the best players from non-NCAA Division I institutions across the state. Three South Atlantic Conference student-athletes made the SAC the most represented league, with Catawba’s Bri Johnson and Mars Hill’s Ansley Ricker joining Lenox on the second team.
