Tornados vs. Apprentice School selected for televisionJuly 25, 2016
BREVARD, N.C. – For the sixth time in history, a Brevard College football game will be featured on broadcast television when the Tornados host Apprentice School on Sept. 24 at Brevard Memorial Stadium on WMYA My40.
“It has been wonderful to partner with Ingles Markets and WMYA over the past three seasons to give our student-athletes opportunities to showcase their skills before a wide audience,” said Athletic Director Juan Mascaro. “This will be our fourth straight year with at least one game on television, something very few schools our size can say and something we’re really proud of.”
“We look forward to the opportunity to play on television once again,” said head coach Paul Hamilton. “We’re very thankful to Ingles Markets and the support that they have given our program each year.”
Kickoff has been moved to 4:00 p.m. to accommodate the television schedule and will immediately follow an Atlantic Coast Conference contest to be announced at a later date. The game will mark the first-ever meeting between the Tornados and Builders and just the second time a Brevard nonconference matchup has been featured on a broadcast network.
The Tornados will be seeking their first televised victory in the late September matchup. Last season’s included two televised games, including a double-overtime thriller against Limestone that saw Brevard force an extra session with a late score and two-point conversion, then extend the game to a second overtime with a blocked field goal.
The inaugural matchup with Apprentice School, which follows the South Atlantic Conference opener against Wingate, will mark the first time since October 2012 that the Tornados have hosted back-to-back home games and is part of Brevard’s first six-game home slate since 2008.
