Transcript available of Hamilton's Digital Media Day remarks

BREVARD, N.C. – Below is a transcript of head coach Paul Hamilton’s comments during SAC Digital Media Day.

Moderator: Up next we have coach Hamilton from Brevard College. Thanks for being here coach.
Paul Hamilton: Happy to be here.

Question: Hey coach, them Tornados are known for owning a patent on the option... can we expect the same from you all this season?
PH: The option is certainly the foundation of our offense and it will be the starting point of what we do again this season. We did look at a few things this spring that we feel like will compliment the basic things that we do on offense.

Question: I watched Brevard play Carson-Newman very tough in the first half last season. It looked like depth was a factor as the game went on.
PH: Numbers are certainly a factor when we play, particularly from a standpoint of scholarships. Our kids play with great effort each and every week, which makes me very proud of them, but it is a challenge for us as we go deeper into ballgames.

Question: There has been some punishing defensive moments put out from the Big Blue defense. Should we expect the same?
PH: I feel like our defense made improvement last season and we feel like it's something we can build on as we go into this fall.

Question: When do your players report to campus?
PH: Our players get here August 9.

Question: Coach Hamilton- Do you anticipate the naming of Dagley & Weber to the preseason all-SAC second team boosting the team morale coming into this season?
PH: Those two young men are very deserving of the honor that they've received this preseason. They realize, however, that their teammates have done a lot for them to accomplish that type of recognition. We certainly are proud of what they've already accomplished in our program thus far and we look forward to them, along with several more of our players, having outstanding years.

Question: Good morning, Coach Hamilton: It's certainly going to be a bittersweet season for Brevard as they transition to D3. How are the players approaching this season in that regard?
PH: Great question, Creighton. I'm so appreciative and proud of the loyalty and commitment that the young men in our program have displayed over the past year and as we head into this season. We approach every day the same way we have since I became the head coach here at Brevard, and that is to become better students, better young men, better leaders, and better football players each and every day when we wake up. I have no doubt that that is the approach this football team will take.

Question: The mountain views from the stadium are awesome... Coaching at Brevard has got have it's perks!!!
PH: Brevard is a beautiful place to live with outstanding people in the community along with our college.

Moderator: Coach Hamilton, thank you for taking the time out of your schedule to talk with the group. We do appreciate it. Good luck this coming season!
PH: Thank you very much and I appreciate greatly the conference office, along with all of the members of the South Atlantic Conference and being a part of this great league these past nine years.
