Tornados picked 11th in SAC preseason pollAugust 31, 2016
ROCK HILL, S.C. – The Brevard College Women’s Cross Country team has been predicted to repeat last season’s 11th-place South Atlantic Conference showing in Pineville, Ky., it was unveiled by conference officials on Wednesday morning.
Last year’s squad wrapped up the season with a pair of top-five placements including a first-place finish at the Brevard College Cross Country Invitational and a third-place turn at the College of Charleston Classic.
The 2016 Tornados will take to the course this upcoming season under a new direction as Mike McClaran steps in as the new head coach looking to return Brevard College back to its former running dominance as Brevard was once a junior college power in both men’s and women’s cross country.
The Wingate Bulldogs, who won last season’s conference title and ran their way to a third consecutive NCAA Division II National Championship qualification, took home the top spot in this seasons poll with 121 points and 11 of 12 first-place votes.
Behind the Bulldogs the poll remained identical to last season’s conference championship finish as Queens (119), Anderson (101), Carson-Newman (86), Coker (76), and Lincoln Memorial (73) rounded out the top half of the poll, While Catawba (62), Mars Hill (51), Lenoir-Rhyne (45), Tusculum (29), Brevard (17) and Newberry (11) wrapped up 2016 predictions.
