Brevard opens 2016 season with third-place run at Eye OpenerSeptember 2, 2016
SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The Brevard College Men’s Cross Country team opened the 2016 season with a third-place turn at the Eye Opener Invitational as senior Brent Turner (West Monroe, La.) and Hassan Kiprono led the charge for the Tornados claiming third and fourth place finishes, respectively.
Lincoln Memorial University took home first-place honors edging out fellow Volunteer State competitor King University by three points. Brevard finished the evening with a meet total of 66 points while Limestone and Erskine capped off the event with 92 and 128 points, respectively.
King University’s Tanner Cook won the men’s race with a time of 26:23:90, coming in ahead of Jorge Hernandez of LMU and Turner and Hassan of Brevard. LMU’s Brandon Vaughn concluded the meets top-five finishers.
Brevard’s top-five was rounded out by sophomore Jordan Lance (Panama City Beach, Fla.) you finished 15th-place overall, while teammates Michael Anton (Woodleaf, N.C.) and Henry Crowder (Tampa, Fla.) both turned in top-25 placements.
Next up on the schedule for the Tornados is another trip to the Palmetto State where they will compete in the Furman XC Classic in Greenville, S.C. on September 10.
