Men's Cross Country turns in 10th-place showing at FurmanSeptember 11, 2016
GREENVILLE, S.C – The Brevard College Men’s Cross Country team ran to a 10-place showing at the Furman XC Classic Saturday afternoon in a field of just under 200 runners and a total of 18 teams at the non-division 1 level.
Brevard finished in eight-place out of the competing Division II programs as Mount Olive won the event with an overall time of 2:08:22.75, while Lee, Emory, Mars Hill and Montevallo rounded out the events top-five teams, respectively.
Adam Craig of Mount Olive took home the Classic’s individual top honors, edging out teammate Jonathan Dahlke with an overall time of 24:41.12.
The Tornados were paced on the afternoon by a top-20 showing by junior Hassan Kirprono (Iten, Kenya) who finished the course in an overall time of 26:28.85 for 20th-place, while teammate Brent Turner (West Monroe, La.) turned in an impressive turn of 26:52.80 to finished 32nd overall.
The Tornados will return to the course this coming weekend as they return to The Palmetto State for the third straight weekend as they compete in the Winthrop Invitational September 17 in Rock Hill, S.C.
