Tornados fall to LMU in SAC openerSeptember 14, 2016
HARROGATE, TENN. – The Brevard College Women’s Soccer team suffered their first loss of the season Wednesday afternoon in Harrogate, Tennessee as they fell to the Lincoln Memorial University Railsplitters by a final of 1-0 to begin South Atlantic Conference action.
With the loss the Tornados move to 3-1, 0-1 SAC on the year as the program was coming off one of its best start since joining the Division II ranks. The Railsplitters struck for the only score of the afternoon at the 23:17 mark as Kaitlyn Tisch played a pass from Alyssa Berry who fed Tisch in the middle of the box who scored in the lower right corner of the net.
Lincoln Memorial would finish the matchup with a 23-9 shot advantage as the Railsplitters offense put the Tornados under constant attack all afternoon, racking up nine shots on goal.
Brevard was led offensively by seniors Anita Maryskova (Liberec, Czech Republic) and Alyssa Bois (Leonardtown, Md.) and sophomore Ashley Hughes (Charlotte, N.C.) who completed the SAC opener with a pair of shot attempts apiece, while Bois and Hughes managed to land an attempt each on net.
Sophomore goaltender Elise Youmans (West Hartford, Conn.) turned in the performance of the afternoon for the blue and white as the netminder racked up eight saves in the effort, while surrendering the one goal.
The Tornados will look to improve to 1-1 in SAC play this coming weekend as they host Coker College September 17 to open the new artificial turf soccer facility following the men’s game at 4:30 p.m.
