Brevard turns in solid Etowah performance

ETOWAH, N.C. – The Brevard College Women’s Golf team wrapped up the 2016 Etowah Intercollegiate with career afternoons by Courtney Sharp (Jacksboro, Tenn.), Kelsie Rhyne (Taylorsville, N.C.) and Taylor Scovel (Charlotte, N.C.) who competed in the event as individuals.

Both Sharp and Rhyne finished the two-day event with top-20 placements, as Sharp finished in 17th-place with a two-day total of 169, 25-over par, as the sophomore improved by five strokes on the second afternoon of play. While, Rhyne finished tied for 18th overall with a two-day tally of 170, 26-over par, making up four strokes in second round action.

Additionally Scovel turned in a solid performance for the blue and white as the sophomore totaled 177, 33-over par for the tournament improving on an opening round 80 to finish Tuesday afternoon with an 87.

The Tornados will return to the links this coming Monday and Tuesday as they travel to Greeneville, Tenn. for the annual Tusculum Fall Classic as Link Hills Country Club.
