Kiprono finishes 13th at Gene Mullin InvitationalOctober 10, 2016
GREENVILLE, S.C. – Junior, Hassan Kiprono (Iten, Kenya) completed the men’s 5000-meter race with a time of 17:03.25 to finish in 13th place at the Gene Mullin Invitational.
Austin Steagall would take first place with a winning time of 15:24.61. He competed as an unattached runner. Another unattached runner, Aaron Templeton would come in second place with a time of 15:28.05. Furman’s Quintin McKinnish and Patrick McNamara would come in third and fourth place with times of 15:49.99 and 16:17.67 respectively. Rounding out the top five finishers was Taylor Tafelsky of Milligan College with a time of 16:20.60.
Brevard would race four runners during the race. Following up Kiprono, Freshman, Michael Anton, (Woodleaf, N.C.) had a time of 18:21.66. Micah Voelzow (Charlotte, N.C.), 20:56.80 and Dal Davis (Durham, N.C.), 22:41.57 would be the third and fourth men in for the Tornados.
Milligan College would win the overall team competition with a total of 17 points and a total time of 1:24:37.08. Jacksonville State University (45) would come in second with a time of 1:28:41.43, and Southern Wesleyan (81) would round out the top three places with a total time of 1:41:13.71.
Brevard will begin preparing for the SAC Championships on October 22, in Columbia, S.C.
