Tornados finish fourth at State Farm IntercollegiateOctober 11, 2016
TAZEWELL, TENN. - The Brevard College Men’s Golf team wrapped up their annual trip to the State Farm Intercollegiate at Woodlake Golf Club, with a fourth-place performance, capping off the 54-hole event with a 878, 14-over par.
Tournament host Lincoln Memorial University took home the tournament title with a three-round score of 855, nine-under par, beating out Carson-Newman University's 871 and Lenoir-Rhyne’s 874 for the top spot.
Anderson University's Weston Bell claimed medalist honors with rounds of 71, 70 and 69 for a 54-hole total of 210, six-under par. While Lincoln Memorial’s George Duncan and Lenoir-Rhyne’s Brad Robinson wrapped up the tournament top three with a final card of 212, four-under par.
Senior Oskar Lundgren (Umea, Sweden) led the Tornados, posting cards of 70, 73 and 73 for a 216, even-par performance, earning 11th-place honors. While sophomore Steffen Heckele (Oberndorf, Germany) finished with a top-20 performance, carding a 219, three-over par.
Senior Paul Calac (Valley Center, Calif.) turned in a top-25 turn, with scores of 78, 73 and 72 for a 223, seven-over par. While senior Luis Vega (Madrid, Spain) completed the Tornados top-four scores with a 225, nine-over par performance.
Senior Chris Fry (Penrose, N.C.) led the Tornados' B-Team with rounds of 80, 73 and 73 for a 54-hole total of 226, 10-over par. The B-Team completed their turn at Woodlake with a 14th-place performance, improving on every round, showing scores of 320, 301 and 299 for a 920, 56-over par.
The Tornados will return to competition October 31-November 1, as they wrap up their fall segment with a trip to Sapphire Valley, N.C. for the Hummingbird Intercollegiate.
