Brevard competes at SAC conference meetOctober 22, 2016
COLUMBIA, S.C.- Brevard College’s Women’s Cross Country Team competed in the 2016 South Atlantic Conference Cross Country Championships finishing in 12th place on Saturday.
Queens University would take SAC Championship as they finished with 21 points and a total time of 1:32:06.90. Wingate (47) would place second with a team time of 1:34:19.50, and Anderson would finish in third place with 77 points and a total time of 1:36:28.50. Rounding out the top five team standings were Catawba (127) and Carson-Newman (181).
Corinne Kule of Queens University would win the women’s 5000-meter race with a time of 17:57.6. Her teammates Natane Deruytter, Lucie Noall, Hannah Wolkenhauer would follow behind Kule with times of 18:14.5, 18:20.5, and 18:27.9 respectively. Wingate’s Alyssa Johnson would round out the top five with a time of 18:33.3.
The Tornados were led by freshman Kaitlin Chaump, who finished with a time of 21:16.7. Senior Elena Raygoza (Quartz Hill, Calif.) would finish six places behind Chaump at 21:52.3. Three more freshmen would round out Brevard’s five runners as Mary Gray Davis (Raleigh, N.C.), Olympia Poplin (Ann Arbor Mich.), and Rhynna Hadden finished with times of 25:45.4, 27:46.5, and 34:25.9 respectively.
Brevard wrapped up their 2016 cross country season with the SAC Championships. The Tornados will look to prepare for next season.
