Tornados turn in solid opening day scores in St. Andrews InvitationalOctober 24, 2016
Laurinburg, N.C. – Brevard College’s Women’s Golf Team completed the opening round of the St. Andrews Fall Invitational at Scotch Meadows Country Club this past Monday.
The Tornados’ three participants all turned in solid scorecards for round one. Junior Kelsie Rhyne (Taylorsville, N.C.) ended the day in ninth place with a score of 80, 9-over par. Sophomore Taylor Scovel (Charlotte, N.C.) is currently in a tie at 13th place, after she posted a score of 83 for the round. Sophomore Courtney Sharp (Jacksboro, Tenn.) finished her round with an 89, tied for 21st place.
Leading the Invitational after day one is Paige Hartman of St. Andrews University. Hartman finished even-par with a score of 72. Followed closely behind her, is University of the Cumberlands’ Annabeth McKay, finishing one-over par. St. Andrews’ Lydia Randell posted a 76, while Rachel Pingleton of University of the Cumberlands finished six-over par.
University of the Cumberlands finished in the lead after day one, posting a team score of 311. St. Andrews turned in a second place scorecard, posting a team score of 328 for opening round.
The Tornados will return to the course tomorrow, for round two, as the three participants will look to climb the leader board. The St. Andrews Invite will be final tournament for the women before the spring season.
