Lenox named First Team All-Southeast Region Team

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Brevard College senior forward Madison Lenox (Raleigh, N.C.) was named to the 2016-17 Division II Conference Commissioners Association Women’s Basketball All-Southeast Region First Team. It was announced Tuesday by regional officials.


With this honor, Lenox becomes the first Brevard College women’s basketball player to win this prestigious honor, and the second player in school history to be named to the All-Region team, as Josh Roper was named to the second team All-Region in 2010-11.


Lenox is coming off her most dominate year as a member of the Tornados, as the senior finished tops in the conference with 20.5 points per game, a mark that ranks 9th in the nation. The Raleigh native also collected 9.3 rebounds per game, fourth best in the conference. While her tallies of 1.9 blocks and 2.9 steals rank fourth and second, respectively in the SAC. Additionally, Lenox played an impressive 35.0 minutes per game, tied for fourth in the conference, while her mark of 3.1 assists finished top-10.


Lenox’s senior season will go down as one for the ages, as the forward turned in the most dynamic season Brevard College has seen in a long time. As the senior finished with 532 points, tops in school history, while her 20.5 scoring average also ranks as best in history. Additionally, Lenox pulled down a school best 243 rebounds, dished out 81 assists for fourth best in school history, while her 50 blocks tied Lacy Singletary for tops all-time. Lenox also stole an impressive 75 passes for third all-time in school history.


The senior forward will graduate from Brevard this coming spring as the all-time leading scoring in school history with 1697 points and minutes played with 3279, giving the Raleigh native a career 16.3 scoring average with a school best 637 made field goals in her time with the blue and white. In addition to Lenox’s offensive prowess the senior will also leave as the all-time leading rebounder with 646, while her 248 assists, 126 blocks shots and 229 steals are all marks that rank second all-time.


Joining Lenox with the first team honors is the South Atlantic Conference Player of the Year, Megan Pittman from Lincoln Memorial University. Mika Wester of Carson-Newman Marta Miscenko of Wingate, and Terri Rogers of Catawba College earned second team honors. Breshay Johnson of Lander University was named the Southeast Region Player of the Year. Johnson was the Peach Belt Conference Player of the Year after averaging 17.1 points, 9.8 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.6 steals per game during the regular season.
