Tornados add two commitments for 2009-2010

Kottyan and Norton both sign on to become Tornados

Brevard, N.C. - The Brevard College Athletics Department along with head golf coach David Nelson are pleased to announce the addition of Macy Kottyan and Taylor Norton to the Tornados women’s golf team for the 2009-2010 season.

Kottyan, the daughter of Cindy Mackin and Sam Kottyan, was a four-year letterman at Port Ridge High School in Matthews, N.C. Playing under Coach Mike Helms, Kottyan won the Girls Golf Coaches Award in 2008 and was also a member of the All-Conference and SPC Conference Champions teams.

Academically, Kottyan was awarded the Outstanding Student award in English III in 2008 and is a member of the National English Honors Society.

Norton comes to the Tornados by way of Dixie Heights High School in Crestview Hills, Ky. Norton played under Coach Roddy Stainforth during her time at Dixie Heights and carded an average of 50 strokes over nine holes during her high school career.

Academically, the daughter of Beth Norton, has been on the Dean’s List and the Honor Roll.

The Brevard College women’s golf team completed their first season as members of NCAA Division II and the South Atlantic Conference in 2008-2009.
