BC Track & Field Competes at Clemson Solid Orange Classic Meet
Clemson, S.C. – The Brevard College men’s and women’s track and field team had a number of individuals compete at the Clemson Solid Orange Classic Meet at Clemson University on Saturday afternoon.
On the ladies side, BC’s Chynna Shipp took 15th-place in the women’s long jump event, turning in a long jump of 4.41 meters in the preliminaries.
In the women’s 1500 meter run, the Tornados had two performers compete, as sophomores Hannah Beck and Meghan Grimes finished 17th and 18th, respectively. Beck finished with a time of 6:16.46, finishing just ahead of Grimes who crossed the line with a time of 6:1.84.
On the men’s side, the Tornados Stephen Dawson turned in a stellar performance in the men’s 110 meter hurdles event. In the preliminaries, Dawson turned in a time of 16.15, which was good enough for seventh-place overall and put him into the finals.
In the finals, the BC sophomore crossed the finish line in a time of 15.72, which was not only 0.43 seconds faster than his time in the prelims, but was also good enough for a sixth-place overall finish in the event.
In the men’s 1500 meter run, senior Harrison Vicini led a trio of BC runners which finished 15th, 16th and 17th overall.
Vicini finished 15th overall with his time of 4:56.79. Fellow teammate Tiffen Tapia took 16th-place with his time of 5:00.95, finishing just ahead of BC’s Zach Hazen who crossed the finish line with a time of 5:02.26.
Both the men’s and women’s track and field teams will compete this weekend at Lees-McRae College in Banner Elk, N.C.
