Seniors Lead Men's Cross Country Team at SAC Championships
Salisbury, N.C. – The Brevard College men’s cross country team competed at the South Atlantic Conference Championship meet on Saturday morning and although the Tornados finishing times as a team did not count toward winning the championship, BC still faired well against the strong SAC competition.
Seniors Justin Holstein and Harrison Vicini paced the Tornados on Saturday morning, as Holstein turned in a 21st-place finish with his time of 27:21.12, while Vicini crossed the finish line at 29:53.33, good enough for a 45th-place finish.
Junior Brandon Hopkins turned in a time of 30:44.01 placing him in 53rd-place, while sophomore Zach Hazen finished in 57th-place with his time of 31:29.40.
Freshmen Tiffen Tapia and Gary Stephenson finished back to back, as Tapia crossed the line with a time of 33:42.35, with Stephenson right on his heels with his time of 33:47.31.
Mars Hill went on to win the SAC Championship meet, as they place four individuals in the top-10 overall. Lincoln Memorial finished second, while Wingate edged out Lenoir-Rhyne by one point for third-place.
The men’s cross country team will host the Brevard College Invitational on Friday, October 26. It is the last meet of the season for the Tornados.
