Davis in tie for the lead at the end of day one with a 71
Brevard, N.C. - The Brevard College men’s golf team teed off for the first time in the 2009-2010 season this morning at the Montreat College Fall Invitational, played at the nearby Glen Cannon Country Club in Brevard. Through day one, Brevard’s Josh Davis is tied for the lead, shooting a 1-under, 71 for the first round, keeping up with Reinhardt’s Zach Lindsey and Bluefield’s Jason Russell.
The Tornados sit in third as a team, shooting a collective 300 through the first day, in their first tournament under head coach Michael Bayne, sitting six strokes behind tournament leader Union College.
Parker Lewis is pacing Davis with a first round 2-over, 74, with Thomas Bush recording a first round 77 and Thomas Rennie right behind with a 78. Mike Jones is also providing support to the team, carding a first round score of 78, a personal career best in the first day’s action.
The Tornados tee off again tomorrow morning at 10:30 a.m. for the final round of the tournament.
