Crowe wins the men's 8000 meter race
Central, S.C. - The Brevard College Cross Country teams competed last Saturday at the Southern Wesleyan Warrior Invitational in Central, S.C. The Tornados faced runners from Truett-McConnell College, Toccoa Falls College, Brewton-Parker College, and Southern Wesleyan University.
Four Tornado women earned top ten finishes in the 5000-meter race. Melissa Schmidt covered the course in 23 minutes and 32 seconds for a fifth-place result. Christie Converso, Danielle Messer, and Ariel Muiselaar ran seventh, eighth, and ninth respectively. Converso turned in a 23:37 time. Messer crossed six seconds later at 23:43 and Muiselaar was one second behind her at 23:44. Madelyn Larouche ran for 24:10. Hannah Beck finished in 25:56. SWU’s Megan Donaldson won the race in 21:31. The Tornados finished second in the team competition behind Southern Wesleyan.
BC’s Matthew Crowe won the 8000-meter race in 28 minutes and 49 seconds. Tiffen Tapia finished eighth in 30:01. Matthew Lambert followed four seconds later at 30:05 for a ninth-place result. Anthony McCaffrey crossed in 32:50 and Charles Spencer ran for 34:55. The Tornados finished second in the team competition behind Southern Wesleyan.
BC returns to action Friday October 2 at the Lenoir-Rhyne Invite in Hickory, N.C.
