Easley, S.C. – Brevard College baseball signee Kellen Moman was a member of the South Carolina team that won the 2008 Big League World Series on Saturday, August 2, defeating Puerto Rico 5-4 in the championship game which was televised on ESPN.

The South Carolina squad finished the tournament with a 5-1 overall record, defeating Puerto Rico with five runs in the bottom of the seventh-inning in the championship game, crowning them the national champions.

During the broadcast of the game on ESPN on Saturday afternoon, Moman and Brevard College were mentioned on numerous occasions, giving Brevard College national exposure.

Moman, who hails from Easley, S.C. and played at J.L. Mann High School, saw action in three of the six contests where he hit for an average of .250, going 2-of-8 at the plate with one home run, one RBI and two runs scored.

“It is very exciting for the BC baseball program to have a signee participate and contribute to a championship on a national stage,” commented assistant baseball coach Matt Mabe.  “We are excited to have Moman join our program, bringing a winning tradition and attitude to Brevard, as we continue to build a strong NCAA Division II program.”

Moman is one of 18 additions to the 2009 Brevard College baseball team come fall 2008, as the Tornados will compete as full members of both the NCAA Division II and the South Atlantic Conference beginning this year.
