Tornados head softball coach accepts task as Senior Women Administrator
Brevard, N.C. - The Brevard College Athletic Department and Director of Athletics Kim Pate are pleased to announce the appointment of Britne Stubbs, Head Softball Coach, as the Senior Woman Administrator at Brevard College.
“I am excited that Coach Stubbs has accepted the designation of Senior Woman Administrator,” said Pate, “she is a very dedicated and passionate young professional who I expect to make a lasting positive impact on Brevard College Athletics and in the lives of our student-athletes.”
The Senior Woman Administrator (SWA) provides a female voice and perspective on key issues and serves as a role model for diversity, inclusion and gender equity in the athletic community. She also serves as an advocate on important issues concerning student-athletes, coaches and staff in the realms of gender equity, Title IX compliance and student-athlete welfare while participating in the decision-making process at the institutional, conference and national level.
In addition, Coach Stubbs has taken on the role of becoming the liaison with the Brevard College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee to work with the committee in developing and carrying out their goals and initiatives, including raising funds for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, as well as promoting community service projects and campus leadership initiatives.
Coach Stubbs will also take over the vacant position of Director of the Champs Life-Skills program and will help out in Operations and Game Day Administration.
“I am very excited about the position I have been given by the College and I am looking forward to helping our student-athletes develop and grow into upstanding individuals,” Coach Stubbs had to say.
Coach Stubbs is in her third year as the Head Coach of the Tornados softball team and has seen the team make rapid improvements in her first two years, improving their win total in each of the past two seasons before culminating in the team’s first appearance in the 2009 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference softball tournament held in Hickory, N.C. after a 17-27 campaign.
The team has also seen marked strides in maintaining academic excellence in the classroom jumping from 32nd in the nation in the 2007-2008 to 23rd in the nation in 2008-2009 with a team cumulative GPA of 3.338, ranking third in the Southeast Region and first in the South Atlantic Conference.
The softball team has also volunteered multiple times in the Brevard area, serving as volunteers at the Bread of Life and adopting a family for Christmas through the Sharing House Organization among their activities.
Stubbs had one final comment, “I am honored to be given this opportunity and I am eager to begin and take on a new challenge on the administrative side of athletics.”
