Belmont Abbey women's basketball coach will speak in regards to Kay Yow Foundation and breast cancer awareness
Brevard, N.C. - Belmont Abbey Women’s Basketball Coach Susan Yow will be speaking prior to the basketball games between Belmont Abbey and Brevard College on Thursday, December 17th, in regards to the Kay Yow Foundation set up in honor of her sister, Kay Yow, and Breast Cancer Awareness.
Pastor Mike Jordan of the First United Methodist Church of Brevard is a friend of the Yow family and had the following to say, “Susan is the youngest member of the Yow sisters who have collectively done more to help college student-athletes than any other family in America. In the spirit of Kay Yow, she continues to share the powerful message in the fight against breast cancer.”
Kay Yow was the coach of the North Carolina State women’s basketball team for 34 years and was an extraordinary woman that battled for 17 years with breast cancer. While doing so, she continued to lead her team to a number of upsets, including capturing her 700th win over University of North Carolina.
Susan Yow will be speaking prior to the games and all ladies will receive free admission to both the pregame talk and the basketball games between the Tornados and the Crusaders.
The Brevard College Athletic Department will be taking up donations for the Kay Yow Foundation throughout the evening.
