Douglas and Yingst recieve NSCAA Scholar All-Region Honorable Mention

Kansas City, Kan. - Brevard College women’s soccer players, Sydney Douglas and Kayla Yingst have received honorable mention for the Scholar All-South Region Team by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA).

Douglas is a senior goalkeeper from Houston, Texas majoring in Music. She started 16 games for the Tornados this year, tallying a conference best 125 saves while saving 74 percent of shots.

Yingst, a team captain from Hendersonville, N.C., is a senior Exercise Major at Brevard College and led the team’s defenders starting 18 of 19 games for the Tornados this year.

Yingst and Douglas were two of just three players for the South Atlantic Conference that received such honors.

The Tornados women's soccer team finished the 2009 soccer season qualifying for the 2009 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Soccer tournament with an overall record of 6-12-1, and a 0-7-1 conference record.
