Brevard drops decision to Wofford to open 2010 season
Spartanburg, S.C. - The Tornados men’s tennis team fell in the 2010 spring season opener on the road to Division I Wofford College on Monday afternoon, 7-0.
Scott McCormick fell in #1 singles for Coach Paul Thomson, dropping his match to Tinus Van Wyk, 6-1, 6-1. Andrew Thompson fell in his match at #2 singles to Stuart Robertson by a score of 6-1, 6-0. Wofford’s Alan Donald topped Jarred Fisher in #3 singles, 6-2, 6-1 and Paul Bartholomy defeated BC’s Dorian Feron in straight sets in #4 singles, 6-0, 6-0. Cole Altizer and Shane Apps were unable to come away with wins in their matches in #5 and #6 singles, falling to Drew Superstein and Michael Schecter respectively.
In doubles play, the Brevard College team of McCormick and Altizer fell 8-4 to the Terriers’ Donald and Bartholomy and Thompson and Feron fell to Superstein and Van Wyk, 8-2. The match between Brevard’s Jonathan Kuhn and Fisher against Robertson and Tom Wood was not finished.
The Tornados are back in action on Saturday, February 13th, as Brevard travels to Asheville, N.C. to take on the Bulldogs of UNC-Asheville, with first serve coming at 3 p.m.
