Greenville, S.C. - Julia Tellman finished first in the road race in leading the Tornados cycling team this past weekend, in the event held by Furman University.
The event opened with the Team Time Trial held on Saturday. The Tornados finished sixth overall in the men’s bracket, finishing with a time of 40:39 as host Furman captured the victory.
The second event, the Road Race, was also held on Saturday as the Tornados placed three riders in the Men’s A division. Tristan Cowie led the way for Brevard, finishing sixth overall, while Corey Meyer was placed 12th. Matt St. Marie was also in the race, but did not finish. In the Men’s B division, Tyler Crotts was the lone BC rider, finishing 11th in the event.
Tellman was the victor in the Women’s A division, topping six other riders in the event to capture the victory.
The final event of the weekend was held on Sunday as the teams took part in the Criterium. Meyer, Cowie and St. Marie all were in the Men’s A Division, with Meyer and Cowie each recording top ten finishes, while St. Marie rounded out the group in 18th. Crotts led the Tornados in the Men’s B division, finishing fourth in the event.
Tellman led the Tornados women with a third place finish in the Women’s A division, finishing behind Kristen Markham of Lees-McRae and Becca Viner of Clemson.
The Tornados continue on the road as they travel to Huntsville, Ala. on April 10th for the two-day event hosted by Alabama-Huntsville.
