Brevard sweeps all six singles matches in victory

Brevard, N.C. - The Tornados took eight of the nine points against Catawba on Wednesday afternoon, falling in No. 1 doubles, but sweeping all six singles matches as Brevard evened its SAC record to 2-2.

The win puts Brevard at 5-7 on the season, while Catawba falls to 14-10, 2-6 in conference play.

Catawba took the point at No. 1 doubles as Alex Macdonald and Thomas Mitchell defeated the Brevard top duo of Dorian Feron and Scott McCormick. Brevard rallied to take the matches on courts two and three as Cole Altizer and Jarred Fisher topped Uri Yarkoni and Cyle Petersen, while Andrew Thompson and Jonathan Kuhn teamed up to defeat Shaun Bridgewater and Corey Eldridge.

All six singles matches were finished in straight sets, with Shane Apps coming in for Coach Paul Thomson to pick up the victory at singles No. 6.

The Tornados are back on the courts on Thursday, April 1st, as Brevard hosts Mars Hill College for senior day. Senior Day ceremonies will take place at 2:50 p.m., while first serve of doubles play opens at 3 p.m.
