Thompson wins both matches in final senior homestand

Brevard, N.C. - Andrew Thompson went undefeated on Senior Day and Scott McCormick clinched the 5-4 match victory over Mars Hill as the Tornados won their second straight conference match.

With the win, Brevard improves to 6-7, 3-2 in conference play, while Mars Hill falls to 3-8, 2-3 in SAC competition.

Brevard won two of the three doubles matches as Cole Altizer and Jarred Fisher teamed up to defeate Alessandro du Besse and Steven Stankovic on doubles court No. 2, while Andrew Thompson and Kuhn topped Carlos Oyaga and Bradley Bassinger on court No. 3. Brevard’s loss came on court No. 1 as Mars Hill’s Lucas Simm and Koeche Smith defeated Dorian Feron and McCormick.

Brevard and Mars Hill split singles play with each team taking three matches. The Lions took victories at No. 2, No. 3 and No. 5 singles, but Brevard rallied back with victories by Thompson and Shane Apps on courts No. 4 and 6 before McCormick clinched the match on court No. 1 with the 6-3, 6-3 win over du Besse.

Brevard finishes up their home schedule on Wednesday, April 7th, as the Tornados host the Citadel. First serve at the BC Tennis Complex starts at 2:30 p.m.
