BREVARD, N.C. - The fans have spoken, and volleyball standout Brooke Seaman has been named the first recipient of the 2008 Tornado Athlete of the Week award. Seaman, a junior from Spring Hill, Fla., garnered 17 of the 45 votes cast by visitors of BCTornados.com, or 37.8%, to grab the honor.
The Tornado volleyball team posted a 2-1 record this weekend at the Montreat tournament thanks to strong efforts from Seaman. The middle hitter tallied 12 kills and two blocks in a 3-0 win over Reinhardt, ten kills and two blocks in a 3-0 loss to Shawnee State, and 15 kills and six blocks in a 3-0 win over Montreat. For the weekend, Seaman totaled 37 kills and ten blocks. Currently Seaman ranks 2nd in the South Atlantic Conference with 4.11 kills per game, and 3rd in the conference with a .492 hitting percentage.
Fans can vote for the Tornado Athlete of the Week beginning each Sunday by heading to the front page of BCTornados.com and casting their vote in the poll on the right hand side. Voting will close every Tuesday afternoon at 2 pm.
