Tigerville, S.C. - Jackie Corn and M.A. Dozier each drove in runs, but the Tornados were unable to overcome 13 Crusaders’ hits in falling to North Greenville, 14-2.
Jacob White (0-8) took the loss for the Tornados, giving up seven runs in a little of an innings’ worth of work and Jacob Koontz pitched four innings of effective relief as Brevard fell to 6-24 on the season.
The Crusaders put runs across in each of the first five innings on their way to building a 14-0 lead, but the Tornados battled back in the sixth as Michael Calhoun led off the inning with a base hit. Calhoun advanced to third with two outs on the board, before Corn reached on an error, scoring Calhoun to put Brevard on the board.
The Tornados placed another runner across in the seventh against relief pitcher Trevor Greer as Ron Patterson came around to score on Dozier’s double down the left field line.
Brevard and North Greenville close out the weekend series with a doubleheader on Ashmore Field, on April 3rd. First pitch comes at 1 p.m.
