Tornados play a 29 match schedule in 2010

Brevard, N.C. - Coach Brenda Skeffington has released the Brevard College 2010 volleyball schedule, as announced by the BC Sport Information Department.

The Tornados will look to become the first team at Brevard College to qualify for three straight South Atlantic Conference Tournaments, after achieving postseason play for each of their first two seasons as members of the South Atlantic Conference. Brevard went 15-15 last season in earning the eighth seed in the tournament.

This year, Brevard will play a 29 match schedule including playing in two in-season tournaments. Brevard will host 12 matches in Boshamer Gymnasium in 2010, while being on the road for the remaining 17.

The Tornados preseason schedule starts on August 19th, as the Tornados travel to Tigerville, S.C. for a scrimmage against North Greenville University.

Brevard has three other dates in August selected for preseason play, before opening the 2010 regular season schedule on the road on September 2nd, against Converse.

The Tornados will stay on the road on Saturday, September 4th, as Brevard takes part of the Montreat Tournament, before opening South Atlantic Conference play on September 7th in Shuford Memorial Gymnasium against Lenoir-Rhyne.

Brevard’s home opener comes on the weekend September 10th-11th, as the Tornados host SAC opponents Tusculum and Mars Hill in Boshamer Gymnasium.

Following a two match road trip against Anderson and Newberry, the Tornados return to Brevard for three straight matches against Belmont Abbey, Catawba and Wingate.

The month of October opens with the Tornados on the road as Brevard travels to Jefferson City, Tenn. on October 1st against Carson-Newman for the first of five straight road matches. Brevard travels to Lincoln Memorial and Queens, before beginning their second trip through South Atlantic Conference play on October 8th against Tusculum.

The Tornados end the trip against Mars Hill on October 9th and return home for three straight conference matches coming against Lenoir-Rhyne, Anderson and Newberry.

After a road non-conference match against Southern Wesleyan, the Tornados will take part of the Columbia College Tri-Match on October 23rd, before jumping back into conference play on the road against Wingate and Catawba.

The Tornados finish up the 2010 regular season on the road with four straight matches, hosting Montreat, Carson-Newman and Lincoln Memorial, before hosting Senior Day on November 9th against King College.
