Brevard takes four singles matches in the victory

Brevard, N.C. - Brevard captured wins on four of the singles courts on their way to a 6-2 defeat over visiting USC Aiken at the BC Tennis Complex on Tuesday afternoon.

With the win, Brevard improves to 12-5, while USC Aiken falls to 9-11.

Lindsay Shaeffer and Kim Dixon recorded a point for the Tornados on doubles court No. 1 against Brittany Telford and Mathilde Grenet and Jennifer Nyman and Kayley Duval teamed up to defeat Bridgette Gale and Ida Sandberg as Brevard headed into singles play with the 2-1 advantage.

In singles, Shaeffer snapped a two-match losing streak in topping Grenet at No. 1 singles with the three-set 4-6, 7-6 (3), 7-5 victory. Claire Dillman recorded a victory at No. 2 singles defeating Stephanie Humphrey and Duval topped Telford in straight sets for the win in No. 4 singles. Elise Labus recorded the final point for the Tornados on court No. 6 with a three-set victory over Gale.

Maria Angel provided the lone singles point for the Pacers, defeating Sara Douglas on court No. 3, and the match on court no. 5 between Brevard’s Kim Dixon and USC Aiken’s Ida Sandberg went unfinished.

The Tornados conclude the 2010 regular season on Wednesday, April 14th, as Brevard travels to face SAC opponent Lenoir-Rhyne University. First serve is set for 2 p.m.
