Brevard takes all nine points against Bears

Hickory, N.C. - The Tornados women’s tennis team wrapped up the 2010 regular season on Wednesday afternoon, defeating Lenoir-Rhyne, 9-0.

Brevard improves to 13-5, 5-3 in the South Atlantic Conference on the season while the Bears fall to 1-14, 1-7 in SAC competition.

Lindsay Shaeffer and Kim Dixon combined for the victory at No. 1 doubles for the Tornados, defeating Lenoir-Rhyne’s Bekah Rhoney and Ivey Tant. Lindsay Hostetter and Claire Dillman combined for the victory on court No. 2 and Kayley Duval and Jennifer Nyman completed the doubles sweep with their 8-0 victory on court three.

All six of Coach Paul Thomson’s athletes won in singles competition, with Dillman standing out among the pack on court No. 3. The freshman did not lose a single point in the first set on her way to a 6-0, 6-0 victory.

The Tornados are back in action in the 2010 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference tournament held at the Rock Hill Tennis Center in Rock Hill, S.C from Thursday, April 22nd, to Saturday, April 24th. Pairings for the tennis tournament are expected to come out from the South Atlantic Conference office on Thursday.
