Brevard, N.C. - The Brevard College Athletic Department and Coach Brenda Skeffington are pleased to announce the addition of Jeff Dobert to the BC Volleyball coaching staff as an assistant coach.
"Coach Dobert will be a great asset to our team. We will utilize his strengths; training hitters, hitting at our defensive team, conditioning," said Coach Skeffington. "Because we have both worked with USA Volleyball and with Carolina Region High Performance; he is already familiar with how I teach skills and has a lot of experience scouting opponents as well and he will have an opportunity to work in every facet of coaching this year."
Dobert comes to Brevard, having served last season as an assistant coach for Peace College, located in Raleigh, N.C.
"For someone like myself that eats, sleeps and breathes volleyball there is no better job out there," commented Dobert. "I will help them grow as people on and off the court and I am committed to the education and promotion of the whole person through excellence in volleyball.
Dobert also has extensive coaching experience with USA Volleyball, having served as a USAV junior coach from 2003 and a USAV adult coach since 2006. He has been selected by the Carolina Region to head coach the High Performance Boy’s National team, and also has been selected to serve as a High Performance Coach to work with both the Region’s top young male and female players. He also coached the Makai Wahine volleyball club from 2003-2005 and currently is a coach with the Triangle Volleyball club.
With the USAV Adults, he was the Head Coach of a Women’s USAV team from 2006-2010 and led the team to their first Regional Championship in team history in 2009, and he also managed and played with a Men’s USAV team, serving as an outside hitter and setter.
Dobert was an outside hitter and defensive specialist for the United States Marine Corps "All-Marine" volleyball team from 2002-2005 and is a current USAV association member/competitor and an avid outdoor grass/sand court competitor.
He is also a member of the Professional Association of Volleyball officials and is a current NCAA and USAV official.
Jeff’s final comment, "I am living the dream right now and I am excited to be a part of the learning and growth of the student athletes of Brevard College."
