Brevard, N.C. - The Brevard College men's soccer team will open their home season on Sunday afternoon when they host the visiting Trojans of Mount Olive College.
The Tornados are currently 0-1 after falling to the hands of the Erskine Flying Fleet 2-1 on Thursday evening. Junior Scott Schuurman (Edmonton, Alberta, Canada) scored Brevard's only goal off of a set up pass from freshman Patrick Urmson (Rauma, Finland).
Freshman Pauli Jussila (Valkeakoski, Finland) made his first collegiate start in goal for the Tornados. Jussila had a save percentage of 50% in the game.The Mount Olive Trojans will head into the Tornados' home opener 0-1 after falling to the Florida Southern Mocs on Thursday. The Trojans lost 2-0 and had a six-year streak of winning season opening games snapped.
The Brevard College men hit the road again tonight to face-off with the Winthop University Eagles at 7 p.m. and look to head into the weekend with a win under their belts.
Game time for the men's home opener is set for 2 p.m. at the BC Soccer Field on-campus at Brevard College and it will be followed by the women's soccer home opener starting at 4 p.m. against the Belmont Abbey Crusaders.
